An entire week designed to bringing more weddings to Hawaii!

The second annual WEDDING WEEK HAWAII will take place throughout the state FEBRUARY 16th-23rd 2018. WEDDING WEEK HAWAII is an upscale interactive social event and educational experience to showcase Hawaii’s wedding specialists in exquisite venues across the island. Through this boutique approach, brides and grooms-to-be, along with industry professionals, will have the opportunity to experience the best of what Hawaii’s wedding industry has to offer. In doing so, we hope to bolster the state’s economy by increasing awareness of Hawaii as a premiere wedding destination.

We invite you to experience seven days of venue tours, food tastings, vendor expos, and much, much more!

Be one of the first wedding specialists to unite, network and create this annual event highlighting the romance industry in the islands.

ALOHA

Here in Hawaii, we work in one of the most beautiful locales on Earth to get married.  Over the years, businesses large and small have developed services and products tailored to couples to be wed here in our state, and an entire industry has emerged, catering to the needs and wants of what is now referred to as the “romance market.”  These companies put forth a great deal of resources toward garnering the attention of the romance market, yet their efforts remain fragmented.

By unifying some of these companies’ marketing efforts, we can generate even more buzz and excitement about weddings than possible as individual entities.  Hawaii Wedding Week is designed to attract engaged couples to a sensational, week-long series of events, thereby stimulating a heightened interest and demand for wedding related services and products.

We welcome your participation in this inaugural Hawaii Wedding Week, scheduled for February 16-23, 2018, throughout the State of Hawai‘i!

HOW WEDDING WEEK HAWAII CAME TO FRUITION

Drawing inspiration from the highly successful Fashion Week here in Hawai‘i, founder, Julie Aragaki (of Hawaii Bride and Groom magazine/HBG Style), believed a similar concept could apply equally well to the wedding industry.  Why not pool the resources and efforts of those in the industry to build excitement around weddings amongst engaged couples?  With Julie’s long standing relationships and contacts within the industry, she enlisted the help of other, like-minded business owners in the industry to put together what will be Hawai‘i’s first ever Wedding Week!

A FEW STATISTICS

Weddings tend to experience less seasonality than does honeymoon travel to Hawai‘i.

By growing the number of destination weddings in Hawaii, the local economy can benefit from increase in steady tourism throughout the year from this segment of the market.

ROMANCE TRAVELERS SPEND MORE

Romance visitors to Hawai‘i (traveling here for a wedding, honeymoon, or anniversary) spend more than their shopping, dining, and activities than do their non-romance traveling counterparts.

OPPORTUNITIES PRESENTED BY THE ROMANCE MARKET

Visitors coming to Hawai‘i for their honeymoons or to get married are often first time visitors, a lucrative part of the visitor population, as they represent potential repeat visitors to Hawai‘i.

The sentimental attachment of coming to Hawai‘i for a milestone event, therefore represents an opportunity to develop loyalty to Hawai‘i as a destination of choice.

2017 PARTICIPANTS

The inaugural Wedding Week Hawai‘i, held last month, boasted an impressive amount of participating businesses.  Sponsors and participants totaled more than 100, attesting to the amount of support WWH was able to garner in just its first year. 2018 promises an even larger number of supporters, as many (returning participants and new ones) have already indicated their desire to be a part of Wedding Week Hawai‘i.

WEDDING WEEK HAWAII PARTNERS WITH STATE OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT OF AG TO SHOWCASE HAWAII WEDDING INDUSTRY

HONOLULU, Hawaii - When couples attend Wedding Week Hawaii February 17-24, they not only will be taking steps to plan the wedding of their dreams with some of the top wedding specialists in the state, they also will be taking part in a sensational, seven-day series of events designed to support Hawaii’s economy.

“Wedding Week aims to unify the wedding industry here in the islands, which will generate more enthusiasm and excitement about Hawaii weddings than possible as individual entities,” said Julie Aragaki, publisher of Hawaii Bride and Groom Wedding Style Magazine and founder of Wedding Week Hawaii. “Weddings touch just about every aspect of Hawaii’s economy, from tourism to retail to restaurants. With Wedding Week Hawaii, we can create more economic opportunity throughout the state to harness some of the nation’s 220 billion dollar romance industry and showcase Hawaii as a top wedding destination.”

During a news conference held at The Modern Honolulu on January 19, details of the inaugural week were unveiled, including the partnership with the State of Hawaii Department of Agriculture, whose mission aligns with the goal of Wedding Week Hawaii to support Hawaii’s economy.

“The mission of the Hawaii Department of Agriculture is to enhance and grow our diversified agricultural economy. It’s a dynamic industry that here today with Wedding Week Hawaii, we can do just that,” said Scott Enright, chair of the Hawaii Board of Agriculture.

Enright pointed out that everything presented at the news conference, from the lei and floral arrangements to the ingredients used in the wedding cake desserts, were entirely locally sourced. Imported propagated materials including plants and flowers represent the highest risk for introducing invasive species to the state, according to the State of Hawaii Department of Agriculture.

“So to the extent that we utilize more local products, it helps us in the fight against invasive species,” said Enright.

Understanding the positive impact the wedding industry has on Hawaii’s hotels and resorts is the reason The Modern Honolulu was one of the first to partner with Wedding Week Hawaii.

“I’ve always observed how weddings are ahead of the game. They’re always the most unique, always the most creative and typically will pave the path for events for the future,” said Kelly Hoen, General Manager of The Modern Honolulu. Hoen said The Modern Honolulu aims to be a trendsetter in the hospitality industry and considers Wedding Week Hawaii an event that will be a forecaster in visitor trends.

“It’s really interesting to see that from an events standpoint, they’re sometimes very intimate, sometimes very large, but they’re always very creative and always very personal,” said Hoen. “That for me was an incredible opportunity to be a part of what I think is going to be one of the most amazing events of the year, Wedding Week Hawaii.”

The news conference began with 2016 Miss Hawaii USA Chelsea Hardin making a breath-taking entrance in a stunning bridal gown by Kini Zamora. Bridal lines from Zamora and other top Hawaii designers will be part of a fashion show on February 18 at “The Experience.” “The Experience” is a two-day, interactive affair at The Modern Honolulu. The news conference concluded with a bouquet toss and cake cutting, celebrating the beginning of a unique union of romance, fashion, and Hawaii’s wedding industry.

Wedding Week Hawaii will also benefit wedding planners and industry professionals with a    variety of educational workshops and networking opportunities.

INAUGURAL WEDDING WEEK HAWAII DEBUTS FEB. 17-24, 2017

HONOLULU, Hawaii - For seven days in February, the islands will be immersed in marital bliss as Hawaii’s top wedding specialists from across the state unite to showcase why Hawaii is recognized globally as a premiere wedding destination.

The inaugural Wedding Week Hawaii debuts on February 17, 2017 with events being held every day through February 24, 2017.  These events will appeal to engaged couples, future brides and grooms, wedding industry professionals, or those interested in any aspect of the wedding industry.

“The Romance Market is enormously lucrative,” said Julie Aragaki, co-founder of Wedding Week Hawaii.  “In Hawaii alone in 2015, there were nearly 24,500 marriages. This doesn’t even include vow renewals and symbolic or secular ceremonies. We’ve seen how businesses in Hawaii have benefited and helped to develop the wedding industry in our state, however the marketing efforts have been fragmented.  By unifying and providing networking opportunities for some of these individual companies, we can generate more excitement and interest in Hawaii as a wedding destination and promote local vendors in harnessing a significant portion of this billion dollar market.”

Among the highlights of Wedding Week Hawaii is a gorgeous, upscale two-day social affair known as “The Experience.” The Experience at the Modern Honolulu on February 18 and 19 brings a boutique approach to wedding planning, with special installments including “The Vault”, “The Gallery”, “The Garden”, and “The Man Cave.” Live entertainment will be on “The Main Stage” along with fashion shows featuring some of Hawaii’s world-renown designers, including Kini Zamora, Amos Kotomori and Anne Namba, with exquisite pieces from their bridal collections and local bridal salons and their “ready-to-wear” fashions.

The 2017 season premiere of the popular television program “Wedding of a Lifetime” will also debut during Wedding Week. The show details the journey of one local couple who was chosen to win the wedding of their dreams. Their story is not only heartwarming, but inspirational.

The week culminates with an entirely unique dining experience for those interested in an out-of-the-box wedding venue.

Supporting the local economy is a primary focus of Wedding Week Hawaii. In showcasing local vendors and growers and encouraging brides and grooms to buy and eat local, Wedding Week Hawaii will increase awareness of the wealth of resources available within the state to host the perfect wedding for any engaged couple.

Information on the hotels and shopping centers across Oahu which will be hosting their own wedding events during the week will be listed on www.weddingweekhawaii.com.
